Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2019, $498,663)

The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency, (I-MCFSA) is a local government agency, which provides Indianapolis, Marion County, State, and Federal criminal justice system with forensic laboratory services. The goal of this proposal is to continue to provide and improve the quality and efficiency of forensic science services by providing laboratory overtime and supplies to assist in the reduction of the backlog, in addition to incorporating efficiencies identified in the process mapping project completed by the laboratory. Providing probabilistic genotyping software to increase interpretation results will increase turn-around time in the Biology Unit will greatly assist in this effort, thereby, improving efficiency and working towards the reduction of turn-around time.
