Broward County is the 15th largest county in the United States and 2nd largest in the state of Florida; the Sheriff of Broward County's Regional Crime Laboratory offers forensic biology and DNA analysis on evidentiary samples to all 31 municipalities and any federal agencies that may request our services. Funding is requested to enhance our laboratory's work capacity, reduce the number of backlogged cases, and improve the turnaround time. To achieve these goals, the funding will support three analysts, to purchase additional or upgraded instruments, and to fund an external audit to remain accredited.
