Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $235,000)

The Miami Valley Regional Crime Laboratory (MVRCL) requests funds to implement a process of testing touch-DNA samples free-of-charge for their customers to fill a void in the state. Agencies that typically use the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation laboratory for free testing cannot send touch-DNA samples there. MVRCL requests funds to purchase a capillary electrophoresis instrument, supplies to work touch-DNA samples, and a contract for the automated robot provider to update scripts for the robot. The MVRCL expects to work at least 1,000 DNA-touch samples through this project.
