Increasing the Efficiency of Sexual Assault Kit Analysis to Enhance the Capacity of Forensic Science in Ventura County

The County of Ventura will use this funding to enhance capacity, decrease the turnaround time, and increase the efficiency of the screening of orifice swabs from sexual assault kits in which the victim is female and the perpetrator is male by implementation and validation of a process efficiency project that replaces time consuming serological screening with a quick and automated examination for male DNA.

The funds will be used to support the validation by providing overtime pay to complete the validation and purchase analysis kits to be used in the validation.
