Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2017, $204,351)
The Board of Police Commissioners Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) will use this funding to enhance the capacity and increase the efficiency of the Biology Section which will decrease the turnaround time for Biology cases with an overreaching purpose of completing more cases and solving more crimes.
KCPD will use overtime funds to test non-violent cases and known DNA standards that otherwise would not have been tested to increase efficiency, specifically of screening and DNA testing of non-violent cases.
This project will increase efficiency, specifically through screening and DNA testing of non-violent cases by using a contractor to perform screening of non-violent cases and reduce the turnaround time for the Property and Evidence section of the KCPD. CA/NCF
