Laboratory Efficiency and Capacity Gains through Infrastructure Improvement

The Houston Forensic Science Center HFSC) will use this funding to reduce the total turnaround time for drug-facilitated sexual assault kits by increasing the capacity and operating efficiency of HFSC’s Toxicology and Forensic Biology/DNA sections.

HFSC plans to locate, renovate and lease an offsite building for HFSC’s Crime Scene Unit (CSU). CSU will implement tracking software that will allow for monitoring of sexual assault kits and related toxicology kits throughout the testing process.
