Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $228,605)
The Miami Valley Regional Crime Laboratory (MVRCL) is a full-service forensic laboratory serving the law enforcement agencies in southwestern Ohio. Approximately, seventy-five law enforcement agencies in eight counties regularly use the services of the MVRCL. Additionally, other law enforcement agencies use the services offered as needed.
The MVRCL will use grant funds to provide financial support for the following:
Personnel Funds will be used to provide overtime for DNA staff to work on backlogged cases. All expenditures will be used to allow permanent employees in the DNA section to work extra hours to manage the backlog.
Training of DNA staff Funds will be used to cover expenses associated with meeting and workshop registrations for required training.
Supplies for Analyzing DNA Cases Funds will be used to purchase supplies used to analyze evidence samples for the presence so DNA profiles. Where applicable, profiles will be entered and searched in the DNA database.
Contracts Funds will be used to continue software licensing and use of our DNA LIMS and genetic analyzers.
