Ms. Wartell coordinates crime analysis and research for the D.A.'s office by working with staff, other criminal justice organizations and the public to provide statistics, mapping and crime trends. Wartell joined the DA's Office in 2003 after 11 years as a police crime analyst and criminal justice researcher. Ms. Wartell has edited or authored numerous publications, and has conducted a wide range of research on various crime problems and police issues, worked on the San Diego Police Department's strategic plan, coordinated the development of a series of crime mapping training modules, and conducted extensive training of police officers and crime analysts in crime analysis and problem-oriented policing.
