Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $200,000)
Through this interagency agreement, NU will co-fund NSF INTERN (NSF 21-013) supplements for graduate students who are currently supported on NSF-funded projects to pursue non-academic research internships in forensic science and other criminal justice contexts. NSF and NIJ have a shared interest in supporting extramural research activities in support of traineeships of graduate students (Masters and doctoral level) funded on NSF grants to gain experience working in forensic science and criminal justice contexts. In 2020, NSF and NIJ renewed a memorandum of understanding to advance shared interests in fundamental research in the social, behavioral, and forensic sciences, including the goal of supporting education and training opportunities that bridge basic research and forensic application. An NSF-NIJ INTERN Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) will invite INTERN supplement requests relevant to forensic science and criminal justice.
