Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $199,919)
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) CAP DNA Lab was formed in partnership with the Austin Police Department. The Lab began operation in April of 2017. The personnel currently consist of a Technical Leader, seven DNA Analysts, and one Technician. Only the Technical Leader and one DNA Analyst are currently trained in DNA analysis so training of the personnel and validation of the equipment and procedures to meet the FBI DNA quality standards are the biggest need for the laboratory.
