Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $538,653)
The goal of this project is to develop an assay to determine the species of the donor of the DNA evidence. This work will combine the strengths of a mitochondrial DNA-based test for taxon identification with that of a nuclear marker for DNA quantification into a simple and quick duplex SNP Taqman® assay. Assay will be available for a broader training course on quantitative and real-time PCR at the California Criminalistics Institute.
